Learning to Fly

We love family. We do, we really do. We enjoyed this last weekend so much, as well as most of this week. My sister Cdee and her family are in town. Cpc and Lmze have had SOO much fun being back together, especially now that they can actually play with each other. Their parents probably love it more though. We have thoroughly enjoyed making them play with each other to get cute pictures, but they have also done some of their own stuff. Here's the proof:

This is where we made them play together, they couldn't get out easily:

This is where they did it on their own. We were in the car and Lmze was starting to get sad, so Cpc reached his hand out to hold hers. They would hold hands for a few seconds then let go, over and over again.
We did do other things besides force them to be friends though.

We went skiing, Pmc for his first time!!!! He started out a little unnerved, but once we got his boots loosened a bit he could feel his feet and really enjoyed himself. I'm also slowing getting better again. I still think I look like a beginner though.
We had everyone in the Eyre clan but Bmem and her family on the hill at Beaver (although we didn't get pictures with my dad).
After skiing we stopped into Garden City to grab the "Old Ephraim" Pizza. That thing is 28" and we ALMOST ate the whole thing, plus 2 dessert pizzas.
We also went to Lava Hot Springs, which of course Cpc thoroughly enjoyed. He is getting WAY good at kicking when we put him on his belly. He tries to splash with his hands though at the same time.....maybe he's actually trying to row, who knows?

The bad part of the week though is Suzie. Our poor car is mostly dead, and we're not sure she has much to live for, so I'm not sure a chocolate-coated miracle pill will help her this time. We're trying to decide right now what to do. It would help so much if we could figure out where we're going to school, so that we know how much money we can reasonably afford to spend on cars. Ugh.

We were driving home from Bear Lake, and just as we approached Evanston, Suzie's timing belt blew and pretty much tore up the whole engine. Even though it's hard not to be pessimistic about this, we have much to be grateful for. We were out of the canyon so we could make phone calls, we were able to have someone look up phone numbers for bishops in Evanston so that we could take Cpc to a warm place while we waited for Grams to come pick us up, we were close enough to Evanston that the bishop was willing to come pick us up, Grams was able to come pick us up, we didn't get in an accident and we're all safe and unharmed, the tow-truck was a flat-bed even though we didn't think about the fact that we HAD to have a flat-bed for our AWD car, we were able to leave the car at the bishop's house until we figured out how to get it to SLC, our mechanic was kind enough to go pick it up without charging us an arm and a leg, the engine died BEFORE we renewed our registration for the year (which was due in March). So while we are hating the situation we're in, we are very grateful it's not worse. Now we just need to make some big decisions, and with a little prayer, we'll do so just fine!

Pmc says that the song "Learn to Fly" is because we learned to fly down the ski-slope, and that it talks about coming home, which we did.

That pizza looks AWESOME! So sorry about the car, but like you said, things could definitely be worse. How lucky that you hadn't paid the registration yet! Some times crappy things really can be blessings. Good luck with car shopping!

Poor Suzie! Good luck figuring everything out--I'm sure something good is coming for you guys! I'm so sad that we couldn't be with you all. Hugs!

That picture of your babies holding hands is so adorable! Brandon would like to offer you his car to borrow, if you need one while you are in between cars. Just facebook us if you are interested! Congrats on the successful ski trip too! It's been a while since I've been skiing myself, though I really would love to go sometime. I tried to teach Brandon to ski a few years ago, but we haven't kept it up since then.
